Green Team

The Green Team is Groundwork Denver’s team of youth environmentalists. The youth members of the Green Team are employed during the summer to work on a variety of projects including maintaining community gardens and local parks, landscaping, repairing bicycles for neighborhood residents, stenciling storm sewers, and educating the community on water quality and lead poisoning. This past summer, the Green Team also had the opportunity to build a photovoltaic (solar electric) system.

The Green Team finished their summer with a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park where they helped the park service eliminate exotic plant species that are endangering the park. The Green Team is supported by the National Park Service, Denver’s Youth Employment Program, and the many partners that provide the youth with meaningful work days (link to Partners). Please contact Wendy Hawthorne (wendy@groundworkdenver.org) to learn about Green Team Sponsorship opportunities.
